What does NFPA stand for?
NFPA stands for "National Fire Protection Association." The NFPA is an organization that has been around since 1896, with the stated goal to: "reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education."
The NFPA is a global organization and effort, with over 70,000 members worldwide. The NFPA publishes hazard prevention information in over 300 publications, and covers safety labeling for chemicals. This labeling has come to be used for more than just fire safety labeling; NFPA and RTK labeles are used for quick visual hazard identification around the globe.
